2007 Easter Seals Invitation
Photograph by Nancy O'Sullivan |
Congratulations
to all the College of DuPage Photojournalism
and Portrait students who participated
in the 8th annual Easter Seals Exhibition, “Transitions” which
opened October 24th, 2007 at Easter Seals
DuPage in Villa Park. The show
will be on display until October, 2008,
when the new show “The Book of
Firsts” opens.
Every year approximately 30 photo students
collaborate with Easter Seals families
to produce the show. Students in the
Photojournalism class produced printed
photo essays as well as Sound Slides
multimedia stories. Students in the Portrait
class did Environmental Portraits of
their subjects. These images serve
an important purpose
For Easter Seals families.
Mary Alice D’Arcy, President of
Easter Seals says,"Often families,
who visit our center for their first
time have just received their child’s
diagnosis and are concerned about their
child’s future and abilities. These
photographs give them hope that their
child, although diagnosed with a special
need, can still achieve much in their
life and have a chance to participate
in everyday activities,"
For people who see the photographs, "it
reminds them that our services are offered
to children who are children first. It
just happens that their child’s
body works differently than some other
kids."
Several of our students’ images
were also published in the February,
2008 Chicago
Parent Magazine. (click
