Students can fulfill a competence requirement through transferring courses from other institutions, by taking SNL courses, through documenting life and work experience or through developing independent learning projects with instructors. There are 50 competence requirements to complete the degree. If a course can fulfill an SNL competence, the abbreviations in column 4 have a number in them. Examples of SNL competences are: A1C, H2X, and S2A. To read about the SNL competences, read about them at: http://www.snl.depaul.edu/prospective/ba_arts.asp#lifelong
