The women's team had a successful fall ('99) season with a 6-0 Conference record and a 7-1 overall record.

As Regional Champions we will be traveling to Tucson, Arizona May 5th - 12th to compete in the Junior College Divison III National Championship!

With returning National Doubles Champions, Kim Dugan and Ali Klaas, we have high expectations for this year's tournament.

LINEUP

At the #1 singles position this year is Jessica Gross, a freshman from Thorton H.S., Jessica's blistering groundstrokes, strong court sense and fierce determination make her a great competitor.

Allison Klaas, at #2 Singles this year, is a returning '98-'99 National Champion at #1 Doubles and a semi-finalist in #1 singles flight. Physically stronger and strategically wiser, Ali will be able use last year's tournament experience to her advantage this year in Tuscon.

#3 Singles is Sharon Suarez. From Glenbard East, Sharon has had many years of competitive tennis experience. Sharon's wide repertoire of shots and natural athleticism make her a cunning opponent.

#4 Christina O'Brien, a freshman from Naperville Central, came to us with a strong baseline game and consistent shot selection. Her ability to come to the net is improving and makes her a strong all-around player.

#5 Kim Dugan, a returning sophmore, who captured the'98-'99 #1 National Doubles Championship is an outstanding doubles player. Her strong serving ability and quickness at the net are the key to her doubles success. These skills along with a solid baseline game should aid her in singles at this years tournament.

#6 Kathy Bulat from Naperville North, is new to competitive tennis - recruited from COD's tennis classes. With Claire Stewart's departure she has the chance she was waiting for; to step in and show us her stuff. Her competitive spirit and determination will be needed in Tuscon.

#7 Andrea McHugh, from Glenbard North, is a player who came to us with solid tennis skills but had little previous chance to hone her competitive skills. She has since gained stronger and more consistent groundstrokes, and improved her tennis strategy.

WISH US LUCK AT THE N.J.C.A.A. NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS May 5th -12th!!
