    Goals: After working through today's material, you should now be able to:

    • Understand basic color theory
    • Comprehend basic HTML tag structure
    • Create bold face and italic text in HTML
    • Create headings in HTML
    • Separate text with line breaks, paragraphs and horizontal rules
    • Understand fundamentals of copyright issues as they relate to work produced in this class

    Covered: Links in HTML, Font Manipulation; Chapter One
    • Text links
    • Image links
    • Anchors
    • Relative and absolute paths
    • Font manipulation: modifying font color, size, and face
    • Art - sources: Chapter One - Expanding your knowledge, visual nutrition / visual detritus

    Goals: After working through today's material, you should now be able to:

    • Create text and image links on HTML pages
    • Distinguish between relative and absolute paths and use the appropriate one when needed
    • Create anchors and links to sections of a page
    • Modify fonts by changing color, size and face


    Week 4

    Covered: Images in HTML; Chapter Two
    • The image tag in HTML
    • Inserting images in an HTML page
    • Image formats
    • Image considerations - file size and optimization
    • Art - influences: Chapter Two: Artistic sources: learning from the masters, Photography as note-taking

    Goals: After working through today's material, you should now be able to:

    • Understand the basics of image usage in HTML
    • Insert images in an HTML page using the image tag
    • Determine which format is best for an image you intend to use
    • Consider file size and optimize images accordingly for quick download
    • Modify an image tag's attributes

    • Create a tiled background image or gradient in Photoshop and insert it in an HTML page
    • Create a simple HTML table

    Goals: After working through today's material, you should now be able to:

    • Understand uses of tables for layout
    • Be able to alter a table's appearance through its attributes

    Goals: After working through today's material, you should now be able to:

    • Use pre-written JavaScript code to enhance HTML pages
