This is the first edition of an occasional communication about transferring to
undergraduate programs in the College of Engineering at Illinois.
Changes in transfer requirements
The 60-hour requirement and some course requirements have been removed
for transferring into College of Engineering programs. The goal is to
simplify requirements and increase flexibility for transfer students.
Students may now transfer sooner, after finishing a core of Chemistry, Calculus,
Composition, and Physics. However, as before, students may remain at their
transfer institution and take transferable courses beyond the required core.

Update on Math
The core Calculus sequence has been revised. What does that mean for
engineering transfer students? (See:
www.engr.uiuc.edu/students/prospective/transfer-math.php). The math
url is lined to the Transfer Admissions page:

Study or Work Abroad
One factor that distinguishes Illinois from other engineering programs
is our international emphasis; we want to help students enhance their global
understanding. Transfer students are strongly encouraged to study or work
abroad, and we have a wide selection of exciting programs and scholarships.
(See:
www.engr.uiuc.edu/international/)
Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering curricular changes
The ECE Department has updated their two undergraduate programs, and
there are some key changes for transfer students. (See:
www.engr.uiuc.edu/students/prospective/transfer-ece.php)
Transfer articulation of courses
The Course Applicability System (
https://uic.transfer.org:8443/cas/index.jsp) is the primary source of
information for transfer articulation of courses. Direct your questions
about transfer articulation to Clark Niepert in Admissions (cniepert@ad.uiuc.edu)
or to engrap@uiuc.edu.
Bioengineering Major currently closed to transfer
The Bioengineering program of study at Illinois is in its inaugural years.
The Bioengineering major does not currently accept transfer students, and we
will inform you when this changes. There are other opportunities to study
biology and engineering at Illinois. (See:
www.engr.uiuc.edu/students/prospective/bio-related.php)
