Location



The Automotive Service Technology program at College of DuPage is located in the Technical Education Center, located off of the southwest corner of the intersection of Lambert Rd. and Fawell Blvd (22nd St.) on the Glen Ellyn campus.


Purpose



The program is intended to provide education and practice in automotive system operation, diagnosis, and repair of passenger cars, suvs, and light trucks at a reasonable cost to students of District 502.



Cost



The Automotive Service Technology program at College of DuPage is offered at a substantial cost savings to other Automotive Repair Programs available in the area. At a tuition rate of $132 per credit hour the approximate cost of a certificate in Automotive Service Technology is under $8200 (including tuition, fees, and books) while the Associate of Applied Science Degree is under $10,500 (including tuition, fees, and books). Either of these options can be completed in two years or less.

Degrees Offered



Certificate and associate degree programs are available to students to help prepare them to enter the workforce or transfer to a 4-year institution to complete a bachelor's degree.



Certificate Requirements



Earning a Certificate in Automotive Service Technology requires 13 specific Automotive courses and completion of at least 1 Automotive elective course.

Associate Degree Requirements



Earning an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Automotive Service Technology requires successful completion of the 13 required Automotive courses, completion of at least 1 Automotive elective course, and fulfilling the general education requirements of the college.

Tool Requirements



Students are required to provide a set of hand tools to be used during classroom and lab activities, the required tool list is available here.

The tools listed are needed for the student to perform required labs and are viewed as an absolute minimum that may be required to gain employment as an apprentice technician.
