Attendance Policy

Everyday the class will meet in TE 0041 for attendance. Class starts promptly at the designated time, do not be late. The student must inform the instructor if he or she arrived late that day after class otherwise he/she will be marked absent.

Attendance cannot increase a student’s grade but it can reduce the final grade. If you miss a class, you can contact me by phone or e-mail to find out what you missed, and if there is an assignment for the next class. It is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to arrange an appointment to make up work you missed by being absent.

Attendance is mandatory. Your earned grade will be lowered, according to the scale below in the grading policy section.

Not being prepared for class will be counted as a tardy (for example: no tools for lab, no books, etc).
Tardy – arriving late for class but before 15 minutes have elapsed.
Late – arriving more than 15 minutes late for class
Absent – non attendance
Every late will be counted as ½ of an absent
Every tardy will be counted as ¼ of an absent.

Grading Policy

The student's final grade will be based on the following factors:

  1. 1. All students have an A grade on the first day
  2. 2. For each class meetings absent after two, one letter grade will be subtracted

  3. 3. All tests must be taken by the student to receive a passing grade

If you have any questions or concerns about your grade, please feel free to see your instructor at any time during the semester.

Checking your Grade

Grade status will be reported to you near mid-semester by your instructor and a review of progress is always available with an appointment. Your current grade status may also be checked at any time by logging into the Blackboard Course System and selecting "My Grades".
