What Is an Edited Book?
|
An edited book features articles or other material on the same subject but by different authors collected together in one book by an editor. This book, Shakespeare on Film, is a collection of articles by different authors. Note that in the record above the title, there's no listing for "author." Instead, in the title line, the record lists Robert Shaughnessy as the editor.
This record lists all the articles in the book. According to the list of contents, none of the articles specifically discusses A Thousand Acres. However, that doesn't mean the book isn't worthwhile.
There are four articles in the book that discuss Shakespeare and film in general and may discuss A Thousand Acres. "Shakespeare and film: a question of perspective," by Catherine Belsey, the third article in the book, looks promising. When you go to collect other books from the stacks, you should browse through books like this one that may discuss your specific topic to see if they offers anything useful for you. But you wouldn't find this book in the stacks! Look at the location. This book is not in the general collection, or "stacks." It's on reserve at the circulation desk.
