I am originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan and moved to Chicago in 1976. I now live in Lombard. I have been married to J. David Mullan since 1969 and, we have one son, Dennis, born in 1976 and is autistic. David is a member of the DuPage County Environmental Commission and is an Environmental Economist specializing in Waste Water Reclamation and Flood Plain Management.
I do much advocate work for securing services to the developmentally disabled population in the State of Illinois.
I attended the following colleges:
- Michigan State University (Mathematics major)
- Grand Valley State University, west of Grand Rapids, MI
- Northeastern Illinois University, graduated summa cum laud in Computer Science
- State University of New York, Utica, graduate course in Computer Science
- University of Illinois, Springfield, graduate courses in Computer Science/Game Prog.
Played the first computer game Spacewar ( on mainframe system at MSU's Cyclotron Building) and owned the first game console, Magnavox Odyssey. Played numerous text based games on early PC's, including The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (Don't Panic! The answer is 42! Don't forget your towel!).
I have 23 years experience as a consultant using C, C++, Macroassembly Language, Visual Basic, and Java languages and dBase, Access, and SQL Server databases.
As an adjunct, I taught 17 different courses for Oakton Community College over 10 years prior to coming to COD.
My hobbies and interests are:
- History of Game Development
- Amateur Astronomy
- History of Science
- History of Civil War, WWI and WWII
- Weather
- Native plant gardening
- Doo wop, 1950's, 1960's, and a cappella music
- Reading murder mysteries
- Old movies from the 1930's and 1940's
- Cats (make the best pets because they purr!)
