My name is Robert Lorenz and I have been in the Fire Service for over 38 years. In those 38 years I have served as a US Navy Damage Controlman/firefighter, Paid on Call Firefighter, Career Firefighter, Industrial firefighter, and Volunteer firefighter.
I have held position in the fire service which include firefighter, EMT, fire investigator, fire inspector, Shift Commander, Lt., Capt, and Chief of the Fire Department. I hold a BS in Fire Science and am certified by the State of Illinois as a Instructor II. I also am certified as a Fire Investigator. I have served in Career, Combination and Volunteer fire departments as well as industrial departments. Most of the 38 years was in suburban Cook County fire service, the last three years have been in rural Grundy County. This gives me and broad background to pull resources from.
I have been teaching for the College of DuPage on and off for over 6 years. I originally taught the Emergency Rescue Technician program. I am presently teaching the Management I, II, III, IV, Tactics I, II, & Fire Prevention I in the Fast Track program at Westmont Center. I am also teaching the Management I Online class.
I have been married to a wonderful woman, who happened to be a Police Fire Dispatcher, for 25 years. We have three grown children and 10 grandchildren, which we spoil. We live in far south Will County in the Village of Godley. Godley is so far south in Will County that part of the village is in Grundy County. I was elected to a Trustee position in the Village in April of 2003 and appointed ESDA Coordinator in April of 2004.
