We are writing to request your help in getting the word out about Illinois CPA Society scholarship opportunities. All of our programs are for students who are studying to become a CPA at any college/university:
Scholarship application deadlines are at the end of November, and the application process is simple, a student could complete it in about 2 hours or less. Thats 2 hours for $4,000! Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of achievement and financial need and are for tuition and fees plus book expenses. Im sure you know this and Im hoping you will communicate it to students, but if they are having difficulty with college tuition, are taking out loans and/or dont have their parents paying 100%, are not receiving other scholarships that cover full tuition and fees, they may have a case for financial need. All information and applications for our scholarship programs are available at the Illinois CPA Societys student web site at www.futurecpa.org. Also, I can send you an email that you can forward to your students with information and a link in it, just send an email to request it. Your accounting department chair will be receiving marketing flyers for this program very shortly so check them out in your department office. If you have any questions, please contact either of us. Speaking on behalf of our Endowment Fund and all of our contributors, we are committed to helping students, every step of the way, on their journey to become CPAs. We would greatly appreciate any help you can provide in passing this important information along to students, and equally important, encouraging them to apply. Dont hesitate to contact either of us with any questions about the scholarship programs. We will be forwarding you an email on Thursday that we will be sending to our student members regarding these scholarships. Please feel free to forward this email to your students. In addition to scholarships, the Society offers the Outstanding Educator Award to recognize outstanding Illinois accounting faculty members. Give your colleagues the recognition they deserve by nominating them for the Illinois CPA Societys Outstanding Educator Award. Your nominee should be an Illinois educator at a community college, college, or university who has made continuous and outstanding contributions to the education of accounting students. Note that educators who are noted for their teaching abilities, but are now predominantly involved in administration or research are eligible for the award. Take a few minutes to help us honor an outstanding colleague by filling out the nomination form at http://www.icpas.org/icpas/educator/oea.asp. Very truly,
