Capsule Personal Beliefs

Capsule Personal Beliefs:

  1. Believe in the power of literature: literature study will make it possible for us to become and remain blissfully, rewardingly, and meaningfully human in all areas of our emotional, mental, civic, cognitive, and spiritual endeavors;
  2. Believe in the power of writing well as an extension of and witness to our best selves;
  3. Believe in an ethical humanist pedagogy of positive possibility: Teaching is a redemptive calling whereby to discover, nourish, and help to realize students’ ideal visions of themselves in their academic and chosen life paths;
  4. Believe in the efficaciousness of displaying students’ academic successes publicly on campus and beyond in visible, materially tangible ways;
  5. Believe in constancy in professional and scholarly self-betterment, collegiality in colloquy, collaboration in pedagogy, and congeniality in interpersonal regard;
  6. Believe in being different: difference is a sign of imaginativeness, creativity, and empowering force.
