Chemistry 1211 is the first semester of a one-year course in chemistry designed for health sciences majors. The course introduces the fundamental concepts of general inorganic chemistry including atomic structure, stoichiometry, gas laws, solutions, equilibria, redox and nuclear chemistry. This course is not intended for science or engineering majors. Prerequisite: One year of high school algebra and either high school chemistry or Chemistry 085. |
Objectives: Acquaint student with basic concepts of general chemistry Acquaint student with the basic mathematical skills involved in chemical problem solving Acquaint student with elementary theories and problem solving pertaining to gases, solutions, acids and bases, and chemical reactions Provide laboratory experiments that illustrate the principles of chemistry discussed in lecture
