Darryl Haefner
Coordinator of Fire Science

My name is Darryl Haefner and I am the Coordinator of Fire Science at the College of DuPage.

I served as a firefighter for 34 years with the Bolingbrook Fire Department and retired in 1998. I have Bachelor's degree in Fire Administration from Southern Illinois University and an Associate's Degree in Fire Science from Joliet Junior College. I have several state certifications also.

I taught Fire Science classes at Joliet Junior College from 1978 to 1981. In 1981 I was asked to be the part time Coordinator of Fire Science at the College of DuPage and was hired as the full time Coordinator in September 2001. Among the courses I teach is the Fire Science Management I online course.

I have three grown children and four grandchildren. I have been married to my wife Nancy 44 years and live in Plainfield, IL.
