Online Homework: A “How to...?” Guide
The Physics 1100 class will be employing an online homework system. This system will allow you to submit your assignments electronically. The following instructions are specifically for those students enrolled in Physics 1100 for the Spring 2012 Semester.
To access your homework assignments, go back to the Physics 1100 class page:
http://www.cod.edu/people/faculty/fazzinid/PHY1100/PHYS1100.html
There, you will find your course
information.
Click on Detailed Class Information for the course syllabus and schedule. Click on Homework Questions to access the multiple-choice on-line questions assignments or on Homework Exercises and Problems to access the numerical exercises and problems.
Once you link to either the reading or post-chapter homework sets, you will find links to each individual chapter being studied in this course. Click on the chapter link you wish to access. When you do, you will be asked to enter your login information:
Enter you NetID: (the 7 DIGITS given to you in class)
Enter the password for NetID: (the first 7 letters of your LAST NAME all in UPPER CASE is your initial password. It is recommended that you change it.)
You should then get a window that says: “You are now logged on as _________.”
When you click the access box you will be sent back to the chapter list. Now when you click on the desired chapter, you will be in the homework set.
For the Homework Questions, YOU MUST BE SURE TO CLICK “Store My Answers” at the bottom of the page in order for those answers to be submitted. You can change your answers anytime up to the cut-off time of the due date (8:30 AM for this class).
For the Exercises and Problems, you will see links to the individual problems. Blue buttons are self-tutorials and the green buttons are the exercises and problems. When you click on a specific problem, you will be given that problem with randomly generated numbers for the variables. You simply type in the numerical solution and click “Enter.” If your solution is correct (within 1% of the computer’s calculation) the computer will respond with “OK.” Otherwise, it will respond with “NO.” Changes can be made up until the cut-off time(s).
