Bloom of a Beavertail Cactus

Big Bend: Hike and Float the Rio Grande Border

In southwest Texas, the Rio Grande River - the natural border between the US and Mexico, makes an abrupt bend. Within this curve lies the vast and wild Big Bend National Park – a land that harbors thousands of species of plants and animals – some seen practically nowhere else on earth. The topography of the land is just as diverse. Join us over winter break as we float this majestic boundary river through Santa Elena Canyon, hike trails in the Chisos mountains, explore backcountry roads and experience historical and cultural attractions unique to the area.

Field Study: January 7-13, 2009

Fee: $1185 (includes air and ground transportation, lodging, camp fees, paddling and camping equipment, guides, permits, and some meals).
