Odonata: Anisoptera (Dragonflies)
- Nymphs (immatures) with stout, rugged bodies; 3 pairs of jointed legs; large, well-developed eyes.
- Masklike labium (lower lip) that is hinged and can shoot out like a scoop to capture prey.
- Older specimens with distinct wing pads (developing wings) on the thorax.
- 3 short, pointed structures at the end of the abdomen, but no gills.
