Film Analysis assignment
For the final assignment in this course, write a paper, of approximately 4- 6 pages, on a film of your own choosing or chosen from the list below. Drawing upon the information gathered during class discussions of film analysis and previous paper topics, craft a strong thesis statement in which you make a substantial argument about the film you have chosen. (It might be about societal comments expressed by the film: gender roles, family values, negotiating modern life, rebelling, fitting in). Your paper should focus either on understanding your thesis through technical aspects as demonstrated in pp.521-538 or through contexts as demonstrated on pages 533-543.
Group option:
If you wish to work in a team of 2-4 people, you are encouraged to do so. You must then analyze the film through both technical and contextual aspects, and make a presentation to the class.
A successful paper will be united in support of a strong, clear thesis statement, with a clear and accurate blueprint and effective organization. This paper should also have an effective introduction and conclusion. All claims should be elaborated in sufficient detail, with evidence and analysis providing adequate support. Style and grammar will also be considered, as usual, in the grading process. MLA style should be used for in-text references and works cited.
