Discussing your artifact choice direction with a group:

What does your artifact seem to say about the people who use it?

Who uses it? Try to get specific.

What assumptions do you and others have about this topic? (Exs: If you are writing about "lipstick" and you say it's used by women who want to look more attractive, question why you/they/anyone thinks colored waxy stuff on the lips is attractive. Where does that idea come from? Why is your object considered fun, delicious, a sign of affluence, cool, whatever labels you are attaching to it...?)

Spend the most time exploring that last question, because that's where you'll unearth more interesting ideas, questions, and the need for research.
