10 FACTS YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDERABOUT YOUR CHARACTERS .
1. Age (biological age and as he/she appears to the world),
2. Gender,
3. Height,
4. General size (small frame, medium frame, large frame, thin, fat or somewhere in between.),
5. Education (vocabulary choice, written and spoken languages, knowledge),
6. Mental state (obsessive behavior, depression, Attention Deficit Disorder, Phobias, Normal),
7. Skills,
8. Weaknesses,
9. One memorable trait, mannerism or quirk, and
10. Self-view (how does the character see himself?).
These 10 facts will give you enough info to reveal how your characters will react in any given situation and is general enough to fill in quickly
without sticking to the here and now of contemporary fiction.
Example:
Education for a medieval, fantasy based story -
Taught to be a farmer, learning about soil, plants, livestock, but secretly has learned the art of magic, some of it delving into darkness

Education for a contemporary story -
Graduated from College of DuPage with a Business Degree, Class 1980. Speaks and writes English, and speaks a little Italian.
