I began teaching at College of DuPage in 1997. As a student at
Luther
College, I was encouraged to take a College Success Skills course to refine my
study skills. At the time, I did not think I needed it. Soon after
enrolling in the course, I realized the benefit. Quite frankly, it helped me to become a better student. Today, I
draw from my experience as a student to develop my approach to teaching a very similar course at College of DuPage
- Education 1115. I have the expectation that students enroll
in this class for different reasons. However, most students finish the course
finding that they learned much more than they anticipated. Currently, I serve as Coordinator
for Education 1115 at College of DuPage. You may also see me at New
Student Orientation during the summer where I make presentations to help
new students acclimate to college.

Professionally, I have more than 15 years of experience
in training and development, drawing on my experience in the fields of
social work, health care, and education. In addition to my work at COD, I provide
results-oriented training for corporations, healthcare organizations and
numerous professional groups. I have presented and taught more than
twenty-five topics related to emotional and physical health including
biofeedback, stress management, relaxation techniques, coping with anxiety
and panic, anger management, and assertiveness. In my career, I have had
the opportunity to teach at eight local colleges.

I earned a Master of Arts degree in Adult Education
from National-Louis University and am certified by the
Biofeedback
Certification Institute of America (BCIA). In general, I am a high
energy person. I enjoy sports and staying active. I am learning
how to play golf. However, if you have seen me play you will know why
I keep my sense of humor. I reside with my wife and cats in
Montgomery, Illinois.
