Goals & Objectives for SOA
Committee
1999-2000 (11/1999)
Overall - Full SOA Committee:
Increase activity within the
committee in areas of publicity and dissemination of information. (First two
to three years were: Ramp-up, data-gathering, and research. Currently we
should be working on increased awareness of results, and in documenting
use of results in the feedback loop, to increase learning effectiveness.)
Increase support of
assessment efforts by enlisting Senate, Instruction Committee, and other
EPTs, and SIPs in action phases of the assessment process.
Expand general communication
with faculty and administrators concerning assessment.
Develop a schema chart and
informative booklet concerning assessment. (This would be less technical
than the Assessment Plan document, and intended for efficient use and
reading.
Record and report on
assessment activities, and share or successes with others through
workshops and conferences.
Promote training and
development resources for assessment at all levels.
Continued testing office
support will be needed for administration of CAAP tests in a consistent
and professional manner.
General Education:
Continue the fall and spring
quarter CAAP testing models of general education assessment.
Increase awareness of the ACT
/ CAAP research design and results; and to increase the participation in
the feedback loop worksheets distributed to the faculty with the CAAP
results (Issue #1).
Initiate cross-discipline
discussions about general education within all transfer-related
disciplines.
Work closely with T.L.C. and
I.I. programs in the development of assessment-related learning
opportunities for faculty.
Share our results with other
colleges whenever possible, including conferences and website activity.
Classroom:
Organize a more user-friendly
and efficient reporting method for both and discipline level assessment.
Increase documentation of
classroom assessment by all full-time and part-time faculty.
Increase awareness of results
of classroom assessment by dissemination of information and publicity.
Increase participation in
assessment activities by a broader range of faculty attending conferences
and workshops external to the college.
Design T.L.C. and Innovation
Incubator projects using classroom assessment focus.
Clerical and testing office
support will be needed to record receipt of individual, discipline, and
program assessment reports.
