Student Resource Center (SRC)
Jack H. Turner Conference Center, SRC 2800
425 Fawell Blvd.
Glen Ellyn, IL 60137

Choosing your fall classes is easy.
For the best selection of classes, attend an Orientation/Advising/Registration session as close to your registration time as possible.

In late June, watch for the letter from the Registration office containing the date and time you are eligible to register. You may register at, or any time after, your assigned time.

You may be required to take placement tests in reading, writing and/or math. Placement tests may be taken at a time and location convenient for you. To verify if you are required to take a placement test, you can do either of the following:
• See the section regarding assessment and testing below.
• Speak with an adviser or counselor in Counseling and Advising, SRC 2044, (630) 942-2259.
• ESL Advising is available in the Berg Instructional Center (IC), Room 2084C. Call (630) 942-3307 for available hours.

Orientation sessions are offered from Monday, July 7, to Friday, Aug. 15, on the following days and times:

Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays:
10 a.m., noon, 2 and 4 p.m.

Wednesdays:
10 a.m., noon, 2, 4 and 6 p.m.

Fridays:
10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m.

Parents are invited to join their student at any of the above sessions. Separate parent-only sessions are offered every Wednesday at 10 a.m., 2 and 6 p.m.

All sessions begin in the Student Resource Center, Jack H. Turner Conference Center (SRC 2800). A downloadable Orientation/Advising/Registration brochure (PDF) is available for more information.

Please note: Students arriving after a session is in progress will be directed to the next available session.

Allow at least two and one-half hours for the entire process (orientation, advising, building your schedule and registration).

Sessions include:

• Orientation information on college policies, procedures and services
• Advising on degree requirements
• An individual meeting with an adviser for course selection
• Interpretation of placement test scores
• Registration permits, if necessary

Registration staff will be on hand to help you with registration.
To register for classes, you’ll need to have:
• PIN (Personal Identification Number)
• Social Security Number
• Course Codes

You should also complete any necessary placement tests before attending one of the Orientation/Advising/Registration sessions.

If you have questions concerning the applicable placement tests, contact the Counseling and Advising office at (630) 942-2259.

Assessment and Testing

Reading Competency Requirement | All new students at College of DuPage who are enrolling for six or more cumulative credit hours of college-level classes (courses numbered 1000-level or above) are required to take the Reading Placement Test. • ACT composite score of at least 20 — proof of score required
• SAT verbal score of at least 500 — proof of score required
• TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper version) or 213 (computer version) or 79 (Internet-based)

Writing | All students wishing to enroll in English 1101, Composition, or English 1105, Intro to Technical Writing, are required to take a Writing Placement Test and show evidence of having met the Reading Competency Requirement. Students may also be required to complete a Writing Placement Essay.

In addition to a placement test score, some classes also require prerequisite coursework. Students who are unsure about which math course to take should meet with an adviser or counselor before taking the Math Placement Test. Practice questions are available at www.act.org/compass/sample.

Please Note: Plan on spending up to one hour for each test. Students taking the assessment tests are required to show a picture ID, such as a driver’s license.

Courses taken at another college or university:
