Policies
The following policies are in effect at the C.O.D. Nursing
Skills Laboratory:
Skill demonstrations for testing purposes are
scheduled by appointment only.
Students are strongly encouraged to practice skills for demonstration exams during
scheduled lab and open lab times.
For a skill to be considered demonstrated in
a satisfactory manner, specified criteria for that skill must be met.
Students are given two attempts to pass a skill. If a student fails the first
attempt, he or she will receive a remediation slip and must meet with a lab instructor
for remediation of that skill.
A skill must be demonstrated at the lab within
one week after a missed or failed demonstration exam.
A student who fails to meet time deadlines must meet with the course team leader.
The student will be given the opportunity to present the reason for missing a
particular deadline. The course team leader will then determine if the student
will be allowed to continue.
Deadlines for all skill demonstrations are posted
in course syllabi and on the Nursing lab web site.
No show/no call for a scheduled skill demonstration counts
as a student’s first attempt. No exceptions.
