It did not seem to matter that College of DuPage met its largest deficit just minutes into the second half of its game against Olive Harvey on Tuesday night.

The Chaparrals, now 3-0 overall, wiped out an eight-point OH lead with a 10-0 run of its own and went to a 64-58 victory in women’s nonconference play at the COD Arena.

Jessica Jnobaptiste led the Chaps with her first double-double of the season with 22 points and 10 rebounds, and teammate Bethany Imlah added 11 as COD improved to 3-0 on the season.

“We created some steals, rebounded the ball and hit some shot,’’ COD head coach Denise McCance said. “Our shot selection was much better, too.’’

Down 46-38 with 5:02 left in the third quarter, the Chaps struck back over the next four minutes. A Dakota Graham jumper put her team out front 48-46.

The Chaps took the lead for good on Warda Niaz’s putback, 54-53 with 7:11 left in the game.

Niaz finished with nine points, and Allycia Ellis added nine with seven rebounds and a 3-for-3 effort at the line.

The Chaps forced OH into 34 turnovers.

COD returns home against Morton (Thursday) and Anoka-Ramsey, Minn. (Friday). Tipoff for both nights is 6:30 p.m.

In men’s basketball action, David Spell scored a game-high 22 points on 9 of 13 shooting to lead three Chaparrals in double figures, but it wasn’t enough in their 85-71 loss to Olive Harvey on Tuesday night.

The Chaparrals fired 43 percent from the field on 25 of 58 shooting. Tyree Spencer and Khyre Hines each scored 10.

Spell led COD with eight rebounds and Donnell Fraley had seven. Jason Peace dealt six assists and scored seven.

Five players scored in double figures for Olive Harvey as it was led by Ronnie Allgood’s 17 points.

COD (0-4) is at Prairie State on Saturday.
