College of DuPage Culinary & Hospitality Students Gain Real-World Event Planning Experience at DuPage Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Fundraiser

2018 Culinary Student Serves Food at Fundraising Event

Students in College of DuPage’s Culinary & Hospitably program recently put their skills to the test, collaborating with the DuPage Convention and Visitor’s Bureau to host a fundraising reception in celebration of National Travel & Tourism week. The reception was a capstone celebration where students from an advanced meeting and event planning course showcased their accomplishments throughout the semester. Students planned all event logistics including designing the invitation, coordinating the room layout, ordering décor and procuring donations for the silent auction. In addition, Culinary students created the menu and helped serve during the event. Proceeds from the event will provide an academic scholarship to a future College of DuPage Hospitality student.
