COD Students Creating Culinary Delights for Lunch, Dinner and the Market

College of DuPage students are creating culinary delights this spring in Waterleaf and the Culinary Market.

The student-run Waterleaf serves fresh regional American cuisine prepared by students in the Culinary & Pastry Arts and Service classes. Lunch seatings are at 11:15, 11:30 and 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, Feb. 7 to May 3, while dinner seatings are at
7 and 7:15 p.m. on Tuesdays, Feb. 6 to May 1. Featured fare this spring is Pacific Northwest, Feb. 6 to 22; Rocky Mountains, Feb. 27 to March 15; American South, March 20 to April 12; and California, April 17 to May 3. The cost is $17 for lunch and dinner, and menus can be viewed here.

Students in the International Cuisine class take guests on a gastronomic tour of the world with recipes celebrating the seasons and using the freshest ingredients. Dinners start at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Feb. 21 (British Isles), March 7 (Morocco), March 21 (Spain), April 11 (South Africa) and April 25 (The Philippines). The menus can be viewed here and the cost is $45.

Also in Waterleaf, advanced culinary students in the Contemporary Cuisine class prepare and serve a multi-course meal. Seatings are at 6, 6:15 and 6:30 p.m., and dinners are on Thursdays, Feb. 15 and 22; March 8, 15 and 22; April 12, 19; and May 3. Menus do change and can be viewed here. Dinners can be ordered a la carte, as a five-course meal for $50, or as a five-course meal with wine pairings for $60.

The Culinary Market sells items made by students and will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Feb. 27 to April 30. The menu at the Culinary Market changes daily and is tied to the curriculum of several classes.

Also at the Culinary Market, the Fast Casual class operates a quick-serve concept where patrons can purchase breakfast and lunch items at the counter and then grab a table in Wheat Cafe. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Feb. 27 to March 19 and April 9 to May 2. The menus can viewed here.
