Thousands Turn Out for Second Annual STEM-CON at College of DuPage

An estimated 2,500 community members attended College of DuPage’s second annual STEM-CON, an interactive conference celebrating the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. Click here for more photos from the event and click here to view a video.
The all-day event featured more than 50 booths offering interactive activities designed to inform, entertain and stimulate an interest in STEM, including a weather balloon launch, river system development, nanotechnology, the physics of flight and robotics. Featured speakers included Dr. Eugenia Cheng, Scientist in Residence at Chicago’s School of the Art Institute and author of “How to Bake Pi,” stick bomb celebrity Andre Jefferson and Fermilab’s “Mr. Freeze” Jerry Zimmerman.
In addition to COD faculty and staff, representatives from a variety of organizations were on hand, including NASA, American Science and Surplus, Argonne National Labs, Department of Natural Resources, Fermilab, Lewis University, the Society of Women Engineers and the Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art.
