COD to Host Free ‘Countering Violent Extremism’ Presentation March 29

The Homeland Security Training Institute will host “HSTI Live: Countering Violent Extremism” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, in the Homeland Security Education Center, on the College’s Glen Ellyn campus, 425 Fawell Blvd.
This event is free and open to the public.
During this seminar, participants will learn about the history of recruitment within the U.S. by terrorist organizations, examine the violent extremist recruitment process and the growth of violent extremism in the U.S., and learn about techniques aimed at reducing the opportunity to create violent extremism in the U.S.
Speakers at the event will include retired USAF Colonel, counterterrorism expert, educator and author of the 2014 ASIS Book of the Year “Soft Target Hardening” Dr. Jennifer Hesterman and Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, counter-terrorism scholar and analyst, Senior Fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies and author of "Bin Laden's Legacy: Why We're Still Losing the War on Terror.”
Participants can attend the event live at the College of DuPage campus in Glen Ellyn, Ill., at the Homeland Security Education Center or view the webinar on-line. Comments and questions can be emailed in during the broadcast.
