The Engineering department at College of DuPage recently hosted a reception to celebrate and recognize students in the College’s Engineering Pathways program. Now in its fifth year, this innovative option for students provides seamless transfer and guaranteed admission to the prestigious baccalaureate Engineering program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which is among the highest-ranking engineering programs worldwide.

During the reception, approximately 150 prospective, current and former Pathways students and family members were on hand to welcome incoming engineering students, recognize current Pathways students and congratulate students who have completed the program and are headed to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) this fall.

“In addition to the program’s success in attracting outstanding applicants, what makes this program so successful is the support and passion for the program from the College’s faculty and administrators,” said Engineering Professor Scott Banjavcic.

Engineering Pathways graduate Eric Pingel is heading to UIUC this fall as a mechanical engineering major. The Bensenville resident said he was pleased with his experiences in the program.

“Engineering Pathways is a great program,” he said. “It provides an easy way to start college and get a jumpstart on your career. COD is also close to home and you save a lot of money while getting a good education in engineering and satisfying general education requirements.”
