China Restaurateurs Visit Culinary and Hospitality Center

College of DuPage Dean of Continuing Education/Extended Learning Joe Cassidy (left) welcomes Tim Lai (center), former head of operations for McDonald's Corporation in China, and Awad P. Sifri, former international marketing director for McDonald's Corporation during a recent visit to the College’s Culinary & Hospitality Center (CHC). More than 50 entrepreneurs and owners/operators of restaurants in the Shanghai and Beijing regions of China toured the CHC at the College’s Glen Ellyn campus as part of a week-long trip across the country to gather concepts for their businesses back in China. The group visited the National Restaurant Association show in Chicago then stopped by Tom and Eddies and College of DuPage before moving on to New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles under the guidance of Lai. “We are excited to demonstrate to these restaurateurs the first-rate facilities College of DuPage has on hand for teaching and serving customers at a fine dining restaurant, all within the same facility. It is a unique combination and we’re pleased to have this opportunity to visit the College’s Culinary & Hospitality Center,” said Sifri, who hosted the group throughout their visit to Chicago.
