COD Launches Society of Women Engineers Chapter
The College of DuPage has officially established a chapter of the Society of Women Engineers, an international organization that encourages an inclusive environment in engineering disciplines to help women achieve their full potential in engineering careers.
The COD chapter’s next meeting is set for 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, in the Berg Instructional Center, Room 3736. Membership is open to both women and men, but SWE scholarships are only available to women.
The College’s SWE chapter is still under development, but primarily will serve as a networking organization. The chapter also is affiliated with the Chicago Regional SWE Section, said COD Physics Professor Carley Kopecky.
“We plan to organize tours to different local companies and research labs, host speakers from various engineering fields, and travel to the Regional SWE Conference,” she said.
For more information on the College’s SWE chapter, call Kopecky at (630) 942-2435 or email.
