"The ILCA's annual awards showcase the best student landscape designs in Illinois," said Brian Clement, COD adjunct Horticulture instructor and Chairperson of the competition. "Our students performed extremely well at this prestigious competition and we are very proud of their accomplishments."
The objectives of the ILCA State Landscape Design contest are to provide an educational and career development competitive exercise for students interested in landscape architecture or design; to provide an opportunity for high school and college students to become involved in a horticulture career development activity; and to further stimulate interest in landscape architecture, maintenance and construction, nursery production, and to push overall the "green industry."
Founded in 1959, the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association's mission is to enhance the professionalism and capabilities of members by providing leadership, education and valued services while promoting environmental awareness within the landscape industry. ILCA employs a wide variety of means to fulfill its mission, including the ILCA Institute, seminars, workshops, publications, trade shows, awards, networking, scholarship grants and social events. A non-profit trade association with more than 800 member companies, ICLA serves as a forum for the free exchange of ideas among landscape contractors, their suppliers and the government, working together for a greener, more beautiful Illinois.
