Waterleaf Earns 2013 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence

Waterleaf restaurant in Glen Ellyn is one of just 10 restaurants in DuPage County to receive the prestigious "2013 Award of Excellence" from Wine Spectator Magazine.
Wine Spectator's comprehensive World's Best Wine Lists has been compiled annually by the magazine since 1981. Entrants are considered for these awards from all 50 states and 65 countries worldwide.
"We are thrilled to again be recognized by Wine Spectator" said Jean Pierre Leroux, General Manager of Waterleaf and the Inn at Water's Edge. "For a two-year old restaurant to already have been acknowledged with this prestigious award is a rare and remarkable distinction."
The Wine Spectator Award of Excellence recognizes restaurants "whose wine lists offers interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers." The restaurant's wine program is considered within the context of the concept, menus and menu prices.
"The selection and pairing of fine wine with great food is something we do extremely well at Waterleaf," Leroux said. "This sharing of information helps us connect with our guest and create a genuine rapport . We are delighted that this attention to detail – a wine collection that matches the high standards of our service, ambiance and cuisine – has been recognized through this award."
Waterleaf in Glen Ellyn features a contemporary approach to fine dining led by Executive Chef Nadia Tilkian, who has created summer lunch and dinner menus that highlight the use of locally-grown, seasonal ingredients. Waterleaf restaurant has earned Diner's Choice Awards for Best Ambience, Best Overall, Best Service, Fit for Foodies and Special Occasion on OpenTable.com, where it maintains a 4.6/5.0 rating.
Waterleaf will host its second annual Wine and Food Festival on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 3 to 6 p.m. Area vendors and distributors will showcase more than 100 different wines at the event, which will also feature two local breweries, live music by the Shawn Maxwell Trio and Steve Ramsdell, Hors d' Oeuvres and take-home gifts for each guest.
