College of DuPage Experiences Two Consecutive Semesters of Enrollment Growth
College of DuPage is leading the pack among Illinois community colleges this year in enrollment growth. After a fall increase of 1.5 percent, College of DuPage is reporting a 3.8 increase for spring. COD is one of only a handful of colleges in the state with self-reported positive enrollment.
"Of the Illinois community colleges who have self-reported numbers we have seen, 12 are down in year-over-year full-time enrollment and just four are up," said COD Board Chairman David Carlin. "Of that select group, College of DuPage is seeing the highest gains. This is a credit to the many changes COD has undergone over the past four years that have affected everything from academic programing to the appearance of our campus to a revamped emphasis on service excellence."
With more than 26,000 students, College of DuPage is the largest community college in Illinois and third largest of the state's public colleges and universities.
COD is nearing completion of a $550 million construction and renovation project that
has built or improved nearly two million square feet of educational space at its Glen
Ellyn campus. In addition, since 2009, the College has developed and implemented 49
new certificate and degree programs, as well as 12 new "3+1" programs with partnering
institutions that enable students to earn BA and BS degrees on COD's campus at a significantly
