The College of DuPage Foundation has received a $5,000 per year grant for three years from Wheaton Bank and Trust for the Center for Entrepreneurship.

The Center for Entrepreneurship at College of DuPage is a vital resource for information on small business creation and expansion, entrance into the global market, and government contract proliferation in District 502. Comprised of the Illinois Small Business Development Center (SBDC), Illinois International Trade Center (ITC) and Illinois Procurement and Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), the Center offers no- or low-cost training, coaching and advising services for proprietors throughout DuPage County.

“Helping small businesses get established, improve their operations and increase sales goes hand-in-hand with a strong, thriving DuPage County,” said Robert Hutchinson, President of Wheaton Bank and Trust. “Small businesses are a major focus of our bank, and the Center for Entrepreneurship is a great resource for small businesses. We want to contribute to their success and give back to the communities we serve.”

According to a 2012 report from the National Economic Council, over the last 20 years, small and new businesses have been responsible for creating two out of every three net new jobs. In addition, the nation’s 28 million small firms employ 60 million Americans, half of the private sector workforce.

Catherine Brod, Vice President of Development and Executive Director of the College of DuPage Foundation, said the grant reflects the importance of helping local businesses succeed and the impact their success has on the economy.

“Wheaton Bank and Trust is a cornerstone business in our community, and we are pleased with their foresight and support,” she said.

The College of DuPage Foundation raises monetary and in-kind gifts to increase access to education and to enhance cultural opportunities for the surrounding community. For more information about the Foundation, call (630) 942-2462 or visit
