College of DuPage student Alicia Voss turned her doll collection into a successful eBook series. The 25-year-old Wheaton student has written three young adult book published by Price World Publishing and currently is working on her fourth.

"For Christmas of 2010, I received a beautiful, brown-eyed, brunette doll who I named Tori," she said. "For whatever reason, she struck me as a wonderful book character, and inspired me to write about her world."

Having an interest in Latin American culture and studied Spanish extensively, Voss said it came naturally that Tori would be of Hispanic descent.

Voss' debut book, "Just Tori," introduces Tori Salinas, a fifth grader and the youngest and only girl in a family of six. When Tori's teacher assigns a writing project outlining what each student loves about their family members, the young girl is worried she'll never come up with anything for each of her annoying brothers.

The three-book series also includes "Tori and the New Girl" and "Tori's Wish."

Voss said she's proud of the work she's done so far and plans to continue the series. She's also writing spin-off books about Tori's cousin, Joy, who makes an appearance in "Tori's Wish." Like Tori, Joy's character was inspired by another doll in Voss' collection.
