Video Production

In program production the linear videotape (a program with a beginning, middle and end; made to be played in that order) has long been the standard product of this and any media department production. Multimedia Services currently acquires most of our original footage in the DVCAM format allowing us to maintain a digital format throughout the post-production process. We also support the BetaCam SP format. In the last few years, the production of video segments, created to be incorporated into other media has increased dramatically, as has the production of specialized graphics. Multimedia Services is actively re-purposing existing media into new media programs. In the past two years some of the traditional media production in the department has been intended for use in CD-ROM based interactive programs.

Media Consultation
Multimedia Services can help you select the best media to deliver your message most effectively. By meeting with our staff of video producers we can help you select the best media for your project, will it be videotape, digital video, electronic or computer graphics, animations, audio, or something else? Our staff of media producers will help you decide. Any or all of these media can be combined to create a highly effective presentation that will meet, if not exceed, your production parameters. By combining various media with computers and authoring software, an interactive multimedia presentation can be created. If you can think it, we can create it.

Studio Based Production
Multimedia Services operates two production studios. The main studio is equipped with four cameras, lighting, audio and prompter. The main studio is 50' x 50' with two semi-permanent sets: one corporate living room type set and an urban loft set. The main studio has a lighting grid 14 feet above the floor and holds some lensed halogen lights and 25 state-of-the-art dimmable florescent fixtures. Multi-camera production with telepromter capabilities are included. Recording formats include BetaCam SP, DVCam and S-VHS.

The control room houses a GVG-250 switcher with a GVG-700 DVE, GVG-Halo3 graphics system, a GVG-VPE-131 controller/editor, a 32-channel digital audio board, a 6-line call-in phone interfaced with a toll free 800 number and there is seating for 15.

Remote Location Production
We can send a crew most anywhere your budget permits. All our production is on broadcast quality equipment with DVCam our preferred format.

Editing Suites
Our facility houses two comfortable AVID non-linear editing suites and one GVG VPE-131 on-line suite, available feeder formats include, DVCam, DV, BetaCam, 8mm, SVHS and even ¾".

Computer Graphics
Punctuate your project with computer graphics! Multimedia Services has a well-equipped computer graphics lab. A variety of computer graphics can be produced for your project by our skilled graphic artists.

Compression Services
We can provide a variety of compression schemes for your media, enabling you to stream it, distribute it on CD's, DVD's or as an on-line course. We offer MPEG-1, MPEG-2, Windows Media™, Real Media™ and Quicktime™.

Cost Estimation
Multimedia Services will provide you with a detailed estimate of your anticipated production costs. Your estimate will include detailed equipment and personnel requirements which can be outlined and customized to your budget constraints prior to the beginning of any work.
