College of DuPage IMAGES!

There’s always a lot happening at College of DuPage, and IMAGES! is a great way to keep up with it all.  IMAGES! is a television news magazine program produced monthly by College of DuPage’s Multimedia Services.  Each episode is packed with stories about our dynamic community.  People, places, events, important information… IMAGES! is an informative and entertaining way to keep your finger on the pulse of all of the exciting things that are happening at COD.

Faculty, staff, students and members of the community have enjoyed IMAGES! programming for 25 years.

Factoid

IMAGES! was the first program in Multimedia Services to be produced entirely in the digital video format from shooting through editing -- Images is all digital.

In its 20 years of production IMAGES! has been hosted by nine people. Our current host has been hosting the longest - Scott Wager of WDCB-FM.

This month, on IMAGES!:

… we’ll check out the many reasons why College of DuPage is a smart move for students…

… honor a legacy and celebrate diversity at the annual MLK breakfast…

… and cheer the men’s basketball team on to victory…

College of DuPage is a frontier of limitless options for personal growth.  COD offers a rich and diverse environment with opportunities for learning under the direction of an outstanding faculty, and a wealth of extracurricular and social activities – all at an affordable price.  When the possibilities are endless, your college experience is what you make it.

If you’ve recently been on campus, I’m sure you noticed the heavy machinery, the fenced off areas and the re-directed traffic patterns. The structure beginning to take shape next to the Student Resource Center will be COD’s new Health Careers and Natural Sciences building.  The space will be a state-of-the art training ground, housing laboratory, classroom, office and instructional space for COD’s health and natural science programs.  Images! spoke with the building’s project manager, Tim Coenen of the Rise Group, for an update on the construction progress and a preview of this impressive new facility.

In January College of DuPage joined in the national celebration of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday by co-hosting the thirteenth annual MLK Breakfast with Benedictine University.  The event commemorates the hope that Dr. King’s life represents, and his achievements in the pursuit of racial equality through non-violence.  Proceeds benefit the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship fund.  The event featured keynote speakers Roy Saigo and Leroy Brown addressing the group that gathered to respectfully honor a man who is considered by many to be an American hero.

We may be in the depth of winter’s cold outside, but it’s blazing hot inside… on the basketball court.  COD’s Chaparrals sports action continues with the remaining men’s basketball season, packed with enough excitement to carry us through the rest of winter’s chill.  Coach Don Klaas tells us about the team’s plan to turn up the temperature.

You don’t need to travel to Cannes to see the finest in international cinema.  Global Flicks offers screenings of carefully selected international films at the McAninch Arts Center with faculty-led discussion following each showing.  Students, faculty and community members are invited to attend more than just an entertaining night at the movies – it’s a chance to participate in cultural and global-awareness raising events.
