Internship Requirements

You must meet these requirements to be considered for an internship.

Most of your major production courses must be completed. You should be a final semester junior or a senior in good academic standing. We will also accept written recommendations from faculty or advisors.

To help us get an overall perspective of your internship potential you must supply the following information regarding your academic and vocational background:

  1. A complete College of DuPage Multimedia Services Internship Application;
  2. A current resume detailing your experience and proficiencies, preferably attached as a Microsoft Word document, may either substitute for or supplement your application;
  3. A letter from your advisor or Internship coordinator confirming your current status;
  4. A letter of recommendation from a communications faculty member.

THE INTERNSHIP PROCESS

The Multimedia Services staff will review all applicants and interview final candidates for the internships. If you are selected, Multimedia Services staff will explain our operations and guide you through a tour of our facility during an initial meeting. Please bring a sample reel of your work with you to this interview.

Once the final candidates are chosen, they will again meet with the Multimedia Services staff to outline the activities and responsibilities of the projects they will be working on. This will be a mutual agreement to satisfy the needs of both the student and Multimedia Services.

The next step is to determine a schedule as to when the internship will begin and end and the days and hours the intern will be available. Multimedia Services will try to be a flexible as possible with the schedule. We would prefer, however, that you be available in four hour blocks of time with some evening and weekend availability.

We recommend that the intern keep a journal of the tasks and experiences of this position. A weekly progress report must be completed by the intern as a record of the work completed. A midterm review will be completed to review the original goals and objectives and progress towards meeting them. At the end of the internship, the student will be assigned a final grade, and an evaluation form will be filled out by both the student and their supervisor to evaluate the success of the internship experience. The final grade will be based on many factors including quality of work performed, attitude, and the way you work with people.

College of DuPage is pleased that you are interested in pursuing an internship with Multimedia Services. We pride ourselves in being an effective production department. That pride is reflected in the success of College of DuPage. We hope you enjoy working here and regard your internship as the beginning of a rewarding career in communications.
