Laundry at Dhobi Ghat, Karachi, Pakistan 1991
We were driven through a traffic jam to Dhobi Ghat,
where laundrymen boil clothes and then whip the dirt
out of them on rocks. This is on the the banks of a dry
river that dried up when a dam was built 30 years ago,
and now hoses bring water to the area.
