The photograph depicts a very common street scene in Cairo where vendors sell all kinds of food and other goods. Here these three women are waiting to buy dinner. In Cairo, the function of the market place has always been vital. Cairo was the center of free trade within the Muslim empire during the time of Mohammand. The Khan al-Khalili is the most famous market in Cairo that is visited today by tourists.
