North Central College, Oesterle Library and the Library at College of DuPage entered into a reciprocal borrowing agreement on September 1, 2001. Current students, faculty, and staff are permitted to borrow circulating materials from each other's libraries. The following Information is for College of DuPage affiliates. North Central College affilates, please check How to Get a Library Card on the College of DuPage Library website. You have the same borrowing privilege as College of DuPage Community Borrowers, but no off-campus access to licensed databases or Interlibrary Loan privileges.
Eligibility Requirements
Current C.O.D. students:
Present an Illinois driver's license and your current class schedule.
Fill out North Central's Courtesy Borrower Card application.
Your driver's license and current schedule must be presented each time you borrow. Note: You must present your entire schedule, not just the part labeled Student ID.
Current COD faculty and staff
Present a current COD staff identification card.
Fill out North Central's Courtesy Borrower Card application.
Your staff id card will then be used as your borrower's card.
Borrowing Privilege
All materials that normally circulate to North Central College's courtesy borrowers are available to eligible College of Dupage students, faculty, and staff. This does not include reference books, periodicals, items in special collections, videotapes, or equipment. Reference books, periodicals, items in special collections, and videotapes are available for use in the Oesterle Library.
College of DuPage borrowers do not have off campus access to databases licensed to Oesterle Library.
Interlibrary loan is not available through Oesterle Library. Interlibrary loan requests by COD borrowers should be made through the COD Library Catalog or at the Reference Desk.
Responsibility for Materials
The individual borrower is responsible for all fines and/or bills for late, lost, damaged, or non-returned items. More information may be found on the North Central College Library: Circulation webpage.
COD students with fines and or bills may have a hold placed on their library record and at registration and records.
COD faculty and staff are subject to the normal collection policies of North Central College.
The Oesterle Library at North Central College
The Library was built in 1953 to serve the needs of North Central College and the Evangelical Theological Seminary. In 1974 the Seminary and its library moved to Evanston. The top two floors of the library facility were extensively renovated in 1984-85 through a gift from Clare and Lucy Oesterle for whom the library is named. The library contains 123,000 volumes and subscribes to 659 periodicals. It uses the Dewey Decimal system.

Go south on Lambert Road to Butterfield Road (Rte 56).
Take Butterfield west (right) to Naperville Road.
Go south (left) on Naperville Road to Ogden Ave. (Rte 34)
Turn west (right) onto Ogden and go to Loomis (4th light).
Turn south (left) onto Loomis to the campus.
