Directories provide lists of Web sites organized by subject. A human staff (often called the editorial staff) evaluate and compile these lists of Web sites.
The Librarians' Index to the Internet and the Internet Public Library have combined forces to create an expansive, collaboratively-built directory of high-quality websites.
The Yahoo! subject directory is one of the oldest and most recognized web subject directories. Although Yahoo! has recently emphasized their search engine and other services, the Yahoo! directory is still a great place to find high quality web sites.
The Open Directory Project (also known as DMOZ) is unique because it is a directory created by a volunteer editorial staff. You, too, can volunteer to be an editor in your area of expertise. Read the Open Directory Project blog for more information about this resource.
