How do I find a good topic for my research project?
- Here is a list of databases that might help you find a topic:
- Another good strategy for finding a topic is to use the Reference
collection of books in the Library, particularly specialized
encyclopedias. Ask for help at the Reference Desk to locate
these special tools.

I have to write a research paper. Where do I start?
- If you've never written a research paper or if it's been a while since
you have, make an appointment with an English instructor in the
Writing and Reading Center.

of papers.

- Try Encyclopedia
Britannica first to find an overview of your topic.
- Consider making a trip to the Library to use the vast resources of the Reference collection, particularly specialized encyclopedias. A librarian can help you find an overview of your topic in the reference sources. Some of the Library's reference sources are available online.
- You may be successful
at finding basic information on your topic by using a Web search engine
or subject directory, such as Google
or Yahoo.
- Searching online
for a magazine article using Academic OneFile or Academic
Search Premier could be useful.
