Just ask a Reference Librarian for help at the Reference Desk or call us at (630) 942-3364. We also have an email reference service or you may IM us. Reference Librarians are research experts on locating library materials as well as online. If you'd like to reach a librarian with particular subject expertise, see the Division Librarians page. You might also sign up for an S.O.S. (Smart Online Searcher) Research & Internet Workshop. Finally, take a look at our special web page for off-campus library services.
Your instructor may require that you attend a library instruction class as a part of your course. These classes are extremely helpful for research projects. Be sure to attend. If your instructor doesn't schedule a class, consider signing up for a free S.O.S. (Smart Online Searcher) Research & Internet Workshop, given throughout the semester at different times of the day and days of the week.
You may purchase a Print Card in the Computing Support & Printing Services area from a vending machine or at the service desk. The reusable blank print card may be purchased for $1.00. An additional $1.00 provides 15 copies. You may also use the Print Card at all other computer labs on camus. Copies and printouts are 10 cents per page if you pay with cash.
Yes, you can. There are over 100 computers in the Library that are all Internet-accessible. If you check your email during busy periods, you may be asked to give up your computer to someone who needs to do research. No computer game playing or chatrooms are allowed.
