I have the call number for an item. Where do I go to get it?
- Check the location
of the item - all GENERAL, CCIC and MUSICAL RECORDINGS are on the
upper level of the Library; REFERENCE and CIRC DESK items are on the
lower level.
- Locate the
general subject area of the item as shown by the first letters in
the call number - PS for example. The remaining numbers and letters
in the call number will lead you to the specific item. You will note that the system that Library uses to place items on the shelves is a decimal system. The system is called Library of Congress Classification System.
- Ask for a map
of the Library (upper
and lower
levels) at the Reference Desk to help you with your search.
