Goal
- Find a book of portrait photography by or about one photographer.
Getting Started
Library Cards
- All C.O.D. students can get a free Library card and it only takes a minute to get a card.
- See the Library Cards page for more details.
- Cards can be used to check out books, software, general collection videos, and rental videos. Your Library card also allows you to access article databases from home.

- Use the Library Web site to search for and access most of the resources and services available from the Library.

C.O.D. Library Catalog
- From the Library home page, click on "C.O.D. Library Catalog" under "Quick Links".
- Using the catalog, you can search for photography books in a variety of ways including by title, author, subject, or keyword.
Research & Class Guides
"I don't have any favorite portrait photographers!"
Browse through some photography encyclopedias in the Library's Reference Collection:
- Contemporary Photographers Call number: TR 139 .C664 1995
- Encyclopedia of Photography Call number: TR 9 .I24 1984
- The Photography Encyclopedia Call number: TR 9 .M39 1999
Use the Library Catalog to do a subject search for "portrait photography".
- This will give you a list of how-to books as well as books dedicated to many portrait photographers.
- Write down the call numbers of books you are interested in seeing.
- Most of these books are in the TR section of the General Collection.
