Sometimes it is helpful to just browse through career and vocational journals to
get some idea of the kinds of professions that are out there. The Library collects numerous
print journals that can be helpful for those of you who are not sure exactly what career options are
available to you.

in the CCIC or in the print magazine/journal collection downstairs.
Many of the books, videos and other materials you will need are located in the "College
and Career Information Center" or CCIC. This collection is located on the 2nd floor of the
library, and holds timely and relevant information about virtually any career choice. This
is also a good place to search if you are unsure what career or profession is right for you.
There is always a library assistant on duty in the CCIC to assist you with all of your information needs.
You can also ask for help on the first floor of the library at the reference desk.
One of the best ways to get accurate, reliable information that is up-to-date is by learning to use our many career-related article databases. These databases contain information that is often much better than what is available out on the web. Also, to simply the search process, tutorials are available to show you, step-by-step, how to use these excellent resources.
Academic Search Premier
Academic Search Premier contains indexing and some full text for thousands of journals. This scholarly collection provides journal coverage for nearly all academic areas of study - including
social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, physics, chemistry, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences
and ethnic studies.
Expanded Academic ASAP
Combining indexing, abstracts and full text, this database offers balanced coverage available through 3,000 indexed
and 1,900 full-text titles in a wide variety of disciplines including: social science journals, humanities journals,
science and technology journals, national news periodicals, general interest magazines, newswires, The New York Times and many others.
More than 1,400 journals are peer reviewed, and more than 20 years of backfile coverage are included.

College of DuPage career counselors can help you with your career planning. Schedule an appointment with a counselor at SRC 2044 or 942-2259 to discuss your career alternatives and decision-making. You can also enroll in Education 1105, Career Development. This two-semester hour credit course fulfils the Human Relations requirement, Contemporary Life Skills requirement, and will help you systematically look at your interests, skills, values, and career choices. Finally, you can sign up for a Group Interest Test session, by calling Counseling Services at 942-2259.
