Interior Design Periodicals

The Library offers access to many journals and magazines of interest to Interior Design students in both electronic and paper formats. Below are a selection of databases to help you locate articles, a selection of the titles that are available to you online, and a list of titles that you can browse in the Library's periodicals area.

Databases:

Online databases provide access to indexing of periodicals and links to the full-text of articles online. Databases are normally searched by topic or subject, but you can also search for a specific article title, a specific journal title or by article author. Wilson SelectPlus and Expanded Academic Index are good places to start searching for articles. Remember that you will need to have your Library Card handy to use these resources from home.

Go to the Interior Design Databases

Try these databases first:

Wilson SelectPlus	Wilson SelectPlus is a great database for finding articles on interior design, including trade journals such as Interior Design, Lighting Design and Application and Architectural Digest. This database also links to articles about business aspects of the Interior Design field. Searching Tips: Use the "keyword" search box to look for articles on specific topics. Once you find an article that is close to what you are looking for, refer to the "descriptors" links at the bottom of the article record. Click on these descriptors to go to similar articles. Printing and emailing are available from this database.
Expanded Academic	Expanded Academic offers indexing and full-text content in a very broad range of subjects. This database is great for locating materials of general interest to interior decorators and designer, especially articles in trade magazines about latest developments in the field. Searching Tips: Search by subject and use the "Narrow" feature to view articles with very specific topics. For instance, if you do a subject search for "kitchens," the Narrow feature will allow you to sort your search to a variety of articles specifically about kitchens in areas such as remodeling and renovation and forecasts and trends. Printing and emailing are available from this database.
Avery Index to Architectural Periodicals	This database includes many citations and full text articles on Interior Design subjects. Use it to locate articles about particular building designs and individual designers.
